Dr McConnell,Mr Newman and Dr Westcott

The purpose of the visit was to discuss approaches to peacekeeping and peacebuilding at the international level, and also efforts towards entrenching democracy and peace in West Africa.  Dr McConnell, who was First Minister of Scotland until 2007, met Mr John Henry Newman, Chief of Staff to President Mills, as well as academic and military representatives.  He also travelled to Sierra Leone and Liberia.
